Weekend Trip To Guerneville CA!

Guerneville, CA

We recently chose Guerneville CA for our annual Bee – Fest wellness retreat and hosted it at AutoCamp Russian River. It was an incredible event and having Guerneville as a back drop to this special event we got to know the area and how special this location is. We thought we would take a moment to share with you some of our top recommendations for this area. So even if you missed our spectacular event there, you can still go and experience some of the beauty the area has to offer.

Where To Stay:

AutoCamp is a deliciously adorable venue that has so much style. Custom airstreams and seasonal glamping tents create an absolutely gorgeous aesthetic especially when set amongst the redwood trees. Either accommodation is lovely but the airstreams are really something special. They are beautifully designed and well appointed and can sleep up to three adults or two adults and two children. We honestly can’t say enough about it and if you happen to stay there make sure to speak with Cathy who helps run the place and tell her Adam and Vanessa from Bee The Wellness said hi!

Food and Drink:

Hands-down El Barrio has the best cocktails in town. They have a great selection of Mezcal if you’re into that sort of thing as well their own great twists on some classic cocktails. Owned by the same folks as Boon Eat + Drink, El Barrio has a more Mexican flair. They also serve some food so if you want to add in some tacos or chips and guacamole they do a great job at the more casual fare. However, if you want a more traditional setting for dinner definitely hop a few doors down to Boon Eat + Drink for a more complete dinner experience. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is easy.

Hiking:

Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is a perfect spot to take a leisurely stroll and see the beautiful California Redwood trees. There are several trails to choose from but we will warn you if you are looking for the more immersive redwood experience the trails through the park are your best bet. The outer loops are more rigorous but the change in elevation leaves them less Redwood centric. If you have enough time you can do both which is what we did! Give yourself ample time to wander and really marvel at these ancient giants.

Beach:

Just over the hill about 17 miles from Guerneville you can soak up some sand in the area of Goat Rock beach. If you have time and want to do a beach bluff hike you can start at Shell Beach and hike towards Goat Rock. The trail goes all the way down to the beach so you will have to decide how committed you want to get before you turn around. We were lucky to have private transport that picked us up after our beach picnic during Bee- Fest so our group walked all the way down where we had a private concert and picnic awaiting them and then our shuttles drove us out. Ya that was pretty cool. But even if you don’t have a private shuttle, you can do the bluff walk along the top and then drive down to Goat Rock to check out the beach. We did that as well one day and it was lovely!

Food:

If you find yourself on the coast and you don’t have a picnic lunch awaiting you, not to worry. Just up the road is a cute little lunch spot called Cafe Aquatica with a great organic lunch menu. Not sure if this happens all the time but when we first went there they had an acoustic guitar player playing for the lunch time crowd on Saturday. Very sweet.

River:

Last but not least we can not forget to mention Burke’s Canoe trips on the Russian River. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The peaceful serenity off the Russian River is a perfect compliment to any Guerneville trip. Grab a buddy (or they also have options for single kayaks) and paddle your way down the river. You can stop and swim along the way and it’s great to bring a lunch and snacks to stop and eat at one of the many river beaches you will encounter.

We hope you will enjoy your time in Guerneville as much as our group did and if you do let us know! You can also check out our retreats and see if you’d like to join us somewhere in the world for one of our amazing events! Have fun! Wander big and keep exploring!

Hope to see you soon!
