DIY Body Butter Recipes!

This week we hosted Dr. Alan Christianson on the podcast episode 220 to discuss Thyroid health. It reminded me just how important it is to keep a close eye on your personal care products and the ingredients in them.

So check out these two DIY Body Butter recipes and instructional videos I put together with recipes below.

Vanilla Cocoa Body Butter Recipe
1 Cup Cocoa Butter Wafers
1/2 cup Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup Jojoba Oil
1 Tsp Vanilla
1 Vanilla Bean
1TBSP Arrowroot Powder

Step One: Place all ingredients with the exception of the arrowroot powder in a double boiler.
Step Two: Stir Frequently as the ingredients melt together.
Place in freezer for about 20 minutes or until the outer edge begins to harden.
Add arrowroot powder.
Blend with hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken.
Spoon into your canister for storage.

DIY Beef Tallow Body Butter
1/2 Cup Cocoa Butter Wafers
1/2 Cup Mango Butter
1/2 Cup Beef Tallow
1/4 Cup Jojoba Oil
1TBSP Arrowroot Powder
10 – 20 Drops of your favorite high quality Essential Oils (be careful with citrus oils as they may cause photosensitivity)

Step One: Place all ingredients with the exception of the arrowroot powder and essential oils in a double boiler.
Step Two: Stir Frequently as the ingredients melt together.
Place in freezer for about 20 minutes or until the outer edge begins to harden.
Add essential oils and arrowroot powder.
Blend with hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until it begins to thicken.
Spoon into your canister for storage.
